Looking back on the last five years, I am amazed at our corporate media. Not amazed in a good way – but amazed that they have mainly done their jobs in such a poor manner, and done it that way for years. And yet many of them STILL have jobs! No matter how many times they get things wrong, they STILL have jobs!
In the lead up to the Iraq War, our “watchdog” media had the audacity, tenacity and veracity of Scooby-Doo! They functioned as outstanding stenographers without any historical memory or ability to reason. I cannot figure out if they are scared silly of our criminal elected officials, or just astonishingly lazy and suffering from amnesia. One outstanding example is how Mr. Bush claimed on four occasions over the last four years that Saddam never let the UN weapons inspectors back into

I feel the same way about Americans who believed the lies about WMDs, who ignored what happened to the Iraqi people, and ignored how our intervention has ruined their lives, and who now ignore the Iraqi refugee crisis. They may be un-informed, naïve and gullible, but I think it is way past time for them to get over it and take some action to stop this genocide against the Iraqi people. I am not very hopeful that they will – or that our politicians will either. I don’t know how we can make this up to the Iraqi people, but I do know we have to try or never make a claim for being decent human beings again.
Is it possible for an entire society to be sociopathic? Is it possible for an entire country to ignore and dismiss the suffering their government and their military inflict on other people? I believe it is. And I believe this is what the
