I have been thinking today of Rusul Jalal, who was badly injured by a US gunship in Iraq in November 2006. The organization No More Victims decided to help her (I worked with them). Rusul came to Shriners Hospital in Greenville, SC in the summer of 2008 for a foot amputation and prothesis. We heard in August of 2015 that she died of her wounds. Supposedly, a piece of shrapnel traveled to her pancreas and got infected. We did not know, or we would have tried to help. Medical care in Iraq since 2003 has been dismal.
Rest in peace, Rusul. You were a beautiful child.
