Letter to US Senators, President, and US Representative

Letter to elected officials about Syria -

I am very concerned about the Syrian refugee crisis and the continuation of Syria's vicious civil war. I'm also deeply worried by the discriminatory, inflammatory, and hateful rhetoric which has no place in a humanitarian crisis. We should instead welcome refugees and prioritize their well-being and swift integration into host communities.

The war in Syria can only end through a political solution. The U.S. can help save lives and deescalate the bloodshed by:

1) Increasing the number of refugees the U.S. resettles in FY16 to at least 200,000, including 100,000 Syrians.
2) Increasing humanitarian assistance to the region.
3) Initiating high-level, sustained negotiations coordinated with the United Nations that includes internal and external parties to the conflict, including Syrian political factions, Russia, Iran and the Gulf countries.
