More events in Asheville this week

Today I heard of more local events that locals might be interested in attending, and they are happening this week.

Also, there is news about the SEE Expo and Our Southern Community Center in Hendersonville.  After ten years, SEE Expo will be discontinued. Here is a message from Ned Doyle:  “Rather sad to tell
you, but the SEE expo is ending & the OSC Center closing down.  Full explanation at  www.seeexpo.com for public, etc.”  This is a great loss, but his reasoning behind the closing seems to be sound.

UPCOMING ADDED EVENTS:

06/08/11 FOLD 1000 PAPER CRANES FOR JUDITH HALLOCK
Fold a paper crane and fulfill a wish:  Judith Hallock, lifelong peace activist in Asheville, is dealing with inoperable brainstem cancer.  Help Judith fulfill her wish for 1000 paper cranes for peace at two free community craft events.  On June 8, the event will be held from 12:30 to 2 PM at the Top Floor Studio Courtyard at 58 ½ N. Lexington Avenue in Asheville.  On June 12, the event will be from 6 to 8 PM at
The Hop Ice Cream on Merrimon Avenue.  Live acoustic music by Sara Day Evans.  Local activist Judith Hallock has started or supported many initiatives to support world peace, including co-founding a
non-profit. She asks her Asheville community to make 1000 cranes for her wish.  Her family shares that prayers are accepted for Judith as she goes through chemotherapy this month.  Helpers and
folder-facilitators needed for both events: call Jennifer at 828-231-7205.
