From The North Carolina Commission of Inquiry on Torture:
2018 Torture Accountability Timeline
Early 2018
Did you miss the public hearings? The NCCIT has posted written testimony from all of the witnesses who spoke at the 2017 hearings. Visit our website to read the testimony and check back in February to watch video footage of all testimonies.
Spring 2018
After hearing testimony from several experts, survivors, and witnesses, the Commission will be working to digest all of the relevant information (including information gathered from public records requests) and will work together to draft summaries and findings for the final report.
Late Summer 2018
The report will be released and available to the public in the late summer or early fall of 2018. Following the release, the NCCIT will collaborate with activist organizations and universities to spread awareness of the report and create a living archive of the work of the commission.
During this process, the NCCIT still invites members of the public to support our work by submitting public testimony, donating to the work of the commission, or getting involved as a volunteer. See below to learn more about how to donate or get involved.
Get Involved!
There are many ways to support the work of the NCCIT. Volunteers can:
• host local discussions or round tables
• invite a representative of the commission to speak with organizations or congregations
• endorse the work of the Commission
• submit statements to the Commission
• and much more!
To learn how to get involved today, visit our website at www.nccit.org or email us at info@nccit.org.
