War Hawk at State and Torture Queen at the CIA

This came from US Labor Against The War:

Rex Tillerson, former CEO of Exxon, as Secretary of State used the State Department as a marketing firm for weapons dealers and openly proposed to conquer one-third of Syria and to overthrow the government of Venezuela.

By all accounts, he was a lousy Secretary of State, who undermined morale and fired or drove out many of the most experienced professional diplomats and analysts. He was no friend of peace, but he also wasn't crazy, a rabid militarist, or in-your-face provocative. He was considered one of the "adults in the room," compared to Trump.
Trump fired Tillerson with a Tweet.

He has nominated current CIA Director Mike Pompeo, a belligerent hawk, to replace Tillerson, and current CIA Deputy Director Gina Haspel, a torturer and war criminal, to replace Pompeo. Together they will encourage rather than discourage Trump's propensity to shoot from the hip and will make it even more likely we will end up in wars with North Korea and Iran, the possible consequences of which are frightening to consider.

Pompeo has overseen drone killings, torture, and the whole array of unaccountable CIA activities. He has openly advocated for the bombing and overthrowing the government, of Iran. Pompeo is clearly eager to head off the 'threat of peace' in Korea. He will be the nation's chief diplomat, but sees diplomacy as a bludgeon to coerce other countries rather than as an instrument for resolving conflict.

Haspel is best known for directly overseeing brutal torture, and making sadistic comments to her victims. She was the agent in charge of a CIA black site in Thailand where prisoners were routinely brutally tortured. She conspired to destroy tapes of the torture in spite of federal court orders to preserve them as evidence. She should be tried for war crimes, not elevated to the director of the CIA.

The warmongers are grabbing ever more power, pushing the Doomsday clock ever closer to midnight.

We have to make a stand for diplomacy and peace.
