Salee Allawe, the little girl in yellow in the photo, was injured in a US bombing in November 2006. She has been brought to Greenville, South Carolina for medical treatment. Salee lost her brother, her best friend, and the bottom part of both of her legs in this bombing. She was playing hopscotch when it happened. Only children were killed or injured. It is always the children who suffer the most from war.
This post is to let people know the events that the WNC Peace Coalition and First Congregational Church have planned for September 19, 2007. Salee will be joining us that day, and it also happens to be the day that the US will have been in Iraq for four and a half years. And there is no sign that the US forces will be leaving Iraq, or that the bombing (which happens daily in Iraq) will stop anytime in the next few years.

I watched Allawe in a television interview, done in Iraq.
Coming from her vicinity, I cannot understand why she was happy to be going to the US, who is quite possibly the most murderous Nation of all time.
The US has destroyed so many lives, and you will say "it was not us". But it was, after all, someone had to vote Bush into office.
I don't know if she was happy to come to the USA, but I think her father felt it was worth it to get Salee good medical care.
I know the US has destroyed so many lives, and I have been protesting and working against this - for 40+ hours a week, every week, for years now. I certainly did not vote for bush at any time. I always knew he was evil. I also know the democrats are not much better.
I am deeply ashamed of my country and how my fellow citizens have acted. I am also amazed at how dumb they are.
And I am thinking of leaving the USA, for my own sake. I don't think my leaving will improve the USA one bit, or make things any different.
But then, all this work and effort has not made any difference either.
