Time is1:30pm - 4:30pm at A-B Tech Enka Campus, Haynes Building Room 128, 1459 Sand Hill Road, Candler, NC.  Cost: $5 - $150, depending on what you can pay and whether you are a lawyer seeking continuing education credits.  Entrepreneurs, attorneys, and community-members alike are invited to learn about the possibilities and challenges presented by the movement to localize and build more sustainable economies.  Community-owned enterprises, social enterprise, local currencies, barter economies, worker-owned cooperatives, intentional communities, car sharing, urban agriculture - these are many of the key ingredients of the transition to more sustainable local economies. How might these trends transform our communities and what are the legal tools we will need to catalyze change?  The workshop will address the unique legal questions and grey areas that arise in efforts to build more sustainable economies, including those relating to securities laws, employment laws, tax laws, zoning laws, and regulation on commercial activity.  Participants will also learn about the new organizational structures designed for social enterprise, and the interactions of social enterprise and nonprofit tax exemption. Presenters will highlight unique solutions and some of the innovative organizations leading the way.

They continue to attack our voting rights, too, pushing for a discriminatory voter ID law, withholding funds for Early Voting, and more.  Please join us at a public forum about how these hard-line conservatives are turning back the clock, who's bankrolling their agenda, and what it means for our lives.
