02/14/12 PROTEST AT HAGAN’S OFFICE AGAINST KEYSTONE PIPELINE BILL
Jeff Baker of 350.or has organized the following. Please pass this on and spread the word widely.  We are going to Senator Hagan's office at 2:00 PM.  Location is 92 Patton Avenue.  The Republicans in the Senate have put up a "compromise" bill approving the Keystone Pipeline stipulating that the tar sand oil only be used by the US. They intend to override the President's recent action to delay the project--which had effectively crippled the pipeline. We have found out that Senator Hagan intends to vote for this  “compromise” bill—this is not a compromise—it is a cave in. The pipeline is a bad idea for many, many reasons--environmental as well as economic, mining the Canadian tar sands is a worse idea--it is perhaps the most inefficient oil capturing plan yet-- and supporting the buy out of the House and Congress by the big oil conglomerates is criminal.  This has come up so fast that we haven't been able to secure an appointment time with the staff at the office--we'll be in touch with the office tomorrow, however that will not impact our plans to congregate.

So, the emphasis is on engaging our community on this issue to help build power now forcing DNR to act and putting some much-deserved bad attention on the company.  Hope to see you there!
