I remember hearing this song just about every morning on the radio in the early 1980s. I was working full time, taking undergraduate classes to get ready for graduate school, and then later, going to graduate school. Those actions lead to the career that I have had for most of my life: pediatric audiology. It was a long road, and many obstacles, but I got there. I have been involved with either graduate school in audiology or doing audiology for 30 years this month!
I guess most people would have a romantic interpretation of this song - but not true for me. It was about having a future and making a contribution to the world at large.
