I made three substitutions in the following statement, and only for geographical locations:
“We declared war on Iraq out of our sincere desire to ensure America’s self-preservation and the stabilization of the Middle East, it being from our thoughts either to infringe upon the sovereignty of other nations or to embark upon territorial aggrandizement.”

At 1st I was gonna put Josef Goebbels, in relation to invading Poland or maybe the USSR.
After reading the quote again, I now say it is Saddam on the invasion of Iran.
As you may know Dancewater, the aim of the Bush Regime is to control Iraqi Oil. To keep it in the ground that is. Maybe you read the Palast article a few weeks ago?
Anyway, when I try to tell people that Saddam's aim in the War with Iran and Kuwait was more about obtaining an outlet for oil more than anything else, it falls on deaf ears. Any close look at the extreme so. borders between the 3 countries
and the apparent lack of Oil export facilities for Iraq reveals it to be so.

Thanks for playing, and I think you are right about why Saddam went to war and why Bush went to war - it is always about power and control of an area and it's resources - or, short version, greed.
And all wars start with lies, so anyone starting a war is therefore a liar.
Saddam did claim that he invaded Kuwait to bring them freedom and to help them develop. He was lying.

I remember when daddy Bush sais, (to paraphrase) We are going to restore Democracy in Kuwait". Even though I was for that Invasion at the time(I have become wiser since)I thought that was laughable.
