The same thing, always, the world over

This war and occupation of Iraq are about - a quest for power and control of an area and/or resources, to exploit them to provide them for your own family/group/nation/clan/whatever. That is, expansionism to further the development of your own group, etc.... and the aggressors feel they are "entitled" to this because they happen to be EXCEPTIONAL PEOPLE in one form or another - race, religion, skin color, form of government, or other ridiculous criteria. And the ones starting up the wars of aggression always do that by LYING to the people who will have to do the fighting and killing and dying. It is a tale that is older than recorded human history.

AND, of course, along the way (now that humans found a way to make weapons and sell them) it is also about MAKING A BUNCH OF MONEY. Sometimes, they are so "clever" about this that they manage to sell weapons to both sides of a conflict - ie, during the 1980's to Iran and Iraq, and today to Palestinians and Israelis and Israelis and Lebanese. Oh, and probably more that I am missing.....

BUT HERE'S THE REAL KICKER --- now, humans have gotten so "clever" about making weapons that we could wipe our entire species off the planet, or nearly so. And, IN ALL OF RECORDED HISTORY, weapons that were made were generally USED.

SO --- we have to make a choice now: non-existence or non-violence.

I posted the above as a comment on Daily Kos.
