Turning the Golden Rule on it's head

US Rep John Boehner turns the Golden Rule ON IT’S HEAD with this comment:

"What we really expect out of the Democrats is for them to treat us as they would liked to have been treated."

Got that? He does not believe that you should treat others as you wish to be treated – he thinks you should treat HIM the way you would wish to be treated….. and overlook his own recent behavior and how he has treated others.

This was reported by Mark Shields on NewsHour a few days back.

Mark Shields had this to say:

Now, that's a new moral standard. I mean, it's not, "Do as I do." "Do as I want you to do that you should have done and would have done if you had been there instead of me." I mean, it's convoluted.

David Brooks followed up with this:

It's going to take me 10 minutes to figure out what you just said.

Well, the poor dear. What can be done to help him understand that the REVERSE Golden Rule is how Boehner wants to be treated? How hard it that to understand? Let no one accuse our American Punditry of being quick to catch on to reality. They obviously have to completely wrong for a decade or two before they are offered a job.

Now, we have often complained that the Democrats have no spine. In order for them to get a spine back, we need to watch their backs, and give lots of polite grief to anyone who says something as outrageous as Boehner’s new Golden Rule. Please call and tell him to “Go Cheney Yourself” in regards to his new standards of behavior.
