Here's to non-violent resistance

I thought this picture was hilarious. More power to that kid who is trying to stop the giant US war machine. I hope he is successful. There was another picture on the web today – from a protest – where someone is holding a sign that saysBush – you’re an international nightmare”. I have to add, he is a local nightmare too…… some towns in California are shutting down fire stations, due to the erosion of their tax base from all the foreclosures. Britain recently bailed out a major bank of theirs – Northern Rock. Some pension funds are going to be badly hit by the subcrime mess in the housing market. Got to wonder how bad this will get, don’t ya?

Meanwhile, the US did another drive-by bombing in Somalia, killing three women and three children and inspiring dozens of people to take up terrorism in one form or another. Israel is still continuing their massive assault on Gaza – thereby inspiring HUNDREDS if not thousands of people to take up terrorism in one form or another. Iraq is still an unholy mess, five years after the bush/cheney criminals decided to invade. US war ships are sitting off the coast of Lebanon – empty. This is supposedly to evacuate people when the next assault on Lebanon (by Israel) occurs, but who knows?

Meanwhile, our own country is becoming more and more a law-less police state. Anything seems to go if you happen to be a police officer. And our environment is getting in worse and worse shape…….

Well, the next few years (or decades) won’t be dull. They won’t be easy either. Especially for the victims of the drive-by bombings or US military invasions or for victims of other US military "intervention" like training Fatah to try and drive Hamas out of Gaza by violent means - or our support for Israeli cluster bombing of Lebanon. But the next few years (or decades) won't be easy for those of us in the US either, as far as economics go. Still, we will be way better off than those we turn our military on......... God help them!
