Progressive Democrats of Buncombe Reminder

This email reminder was sent out today to my email list of Progressive Democrats. Unfortunately, some Hotmail and MSN emails won't accept the emails I send out, and they are bounced back. (PDA and Truth Out have had the same kind of problems.)

Next meeting of the Progressive Democrats of Buncombe County will be April 8, 2008. This will be held at 7 PM at North Asheville Library. We are inviting all Democratic candidates running for office for US Congress, state level offices or Buncombe County offices to come and speak for a few minutes to our group. It is okay to send a representative for the candidate.

We will be voting on a possible endorsement of a candidate running for US Senate via Progressive Democrats of America. Progressive Democrats of Buncombe is a chapter group of Progressive Democrats of America. We will also discuss possible endorsements for local candidates, and a method for providing such an endorsement (this is not part of our by-laws at this time).

This week marks the fifth anniversary of the occupation of Iraq. There are many local actions in Asheville, and some in surrounding communities. Please come out for these actions and bring your signs. They are listed above on this blog.

Also, Rep. Shuler is in our district on recess. It would be a great time to call, email, fax or visit his offices – along with the offices of Dole (Hendersonville) and Burr (Asheville). They cannot hear enough from all of us on this important anniversary of the illegal occupation of Iraq. There is a website available for ideas and information on how to fax or email at this site: http://www.democrats.com/iraq-fax-in They also have some wonderful ideas you can borrow for letters, faxes or signs.

I will send out a reminder email in early April for the meeting. That will include information on the candidates seeking endorsements. More information will be posted on this blog, and on Blue NC and Daily Kos.

The NC Primary is May 6, 2008. Poll workers are needed for early voting – contact www.buncombecounty.org and apply on line.

HOPE TO SEE YOU ALL OUT ON THE STREETS OF ASHEVILLE THIS WEEK!

Sincerely,

Susan - on behalf of Progressive Democrats of Buncombe County
