Putting weapons in schools is vastly stupid

For starters, Columbine had an armed guard - he was checking out the kids in the smoking area when that massacre started. Having an armed guard on duty did not stop those killers from planning and executing their crime. And at Virginia Tech, they had a police department right on campus.

But here are a few other examples of what can go wrong when you have adults walking around with guns:

#1. Leave gun unattended in the bathroom.

#2. Forget about gun in purse, and then allow access for a student to steal the gun.

#3. School janitor manages to shoot himself during training to carry a gun at the school where he works.

Of course, there is also the problem of having adults in authority who are pedophiles.  Allowing them a gun will only make it much easier to rape a child and keep the child quiet.

But the "more guns will make us safer" crowd are not capable of thinking this through rationally. They only know that a gun makes THEM feel less scared, so they conclude that their fears are telling them the truth. The truth is they are PISS-YOUR-PANTS-SCARED of damn near everything and all the guns in the world will not change that.
